RSS Feeds

This website has four RSS feeds:

	General	Department announcements, news, and seminar notices (combines the following two feeds)
	Announcements	Department news and announcements
	Seminars	Department colloquia and seminar notices
	Current Students	Information for current undergraduate and graduate students (required reading for students)

 

What's RSS?

It stands for "Really Simple Syndication", and has become a very popular and convenient way of dissimating information and announcements. Unlike a push technology like email, information from RSS is received only if you actually want it.

How can I get it?

You need an RSS reader (also called an aggregator) and the name of the RSS feed. Click on the links in the table above for the addresses of the xml or php files that you need to subscribe to. As far as a reader goes, you can subscribe using (1) a dedicated RSS reader (Google Reader with Firefox is very nice), (2) a browser (e.g, Safari), or (3) another method of your choice (e.g., in OS X 10.5, you can subscribe through Mail).

I'm still confused...

I'm too old and slow to deal with anything new. Can I still get announcements via email?

No, but we might be able to arrange carrier pigeon delivery of your reminders.
